Stitch Removal.....

Tuesday 29th March

So, I thought that getting Jade's nose cut open was a challenge.... I hadn't foreseen the "joy" of trying to get her stitches out.....

We first went to the Doctor's surgery to get them removed....  and the worst thing a doctor can say to a 10yr old is "make sure you sit really still, this scalpel is really sharp and I would hate to cut your nose" - yup... that's totally going to make her lay still and not panic AT ALL!

So, after an hour at the doctor's - they decided that we weren't going to be able to remove the stitches and the only choice we then had was to head to the hospital and see if someone there could take them out....

So... off we went.... and spent an hour in the emergency department at the hospital trying to get Jade to sit still so that they could remove the stitches....  nope... that wasn't happening at all... the nurses at the hospital were cranky that we'd gone to the emergency department to get stitches removed and I'd explained that we'd gone to the doctor's as we'd been advised after the surgery... they then wanted to send us to the Surgical Outpatients the following day to get them to remove the stitches...

Knowing full well that Jade wasn't going to change her tune, I tried to convince her to let me take them out at home....  after an hour and a half of trying to convince her calmly, Rob ended up having to hold her down on the bed while I removed the stitches with nail clippers and tweezers... NOT THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! that's for sure!

And worst yet... after we finally got them out.  Jade immediately calmed down and was completely happy and then said "next time I have stitches... you can take them out!" ... UM..... NO!!!  NO NO NO NO NO NO!  there will be no more stitches.... next time they're going to have to glue her back together, because I'm not doing that again!
