Learn to Skate

Thursday 22nd September

We went to the first Learn to Skate at the PCYC on Thursday night.... 6-7:30pm...

When we arrived Jade was very excited and said that she was looking forward to "skating training" which I thought was very cute... cause as I head off at night I say that I'm going to "Derby Training"...  Maybe she will follow in my footsteps and become a skater....   Time will tell... but for now... she was happy to go to training...

The guy leading the training is Rodney... he taught me speed skating and got me into Roller Hockey when I was in High School....   I was in Sydney before I got into inline skating and inline hockey....

He's an awesome teacher.... teaching the kids to go from sitting down to standing - and then they practiced going from a standing to a squatting position.... the advantage to managing/owning a skating rink for 20 odd years is that he definitely knows his stuff....  (plus he's pretty much spent his life on skates)

They had a brilliant night - and are looking forward to doing it all again this week.....

Mudflats with family....

Tuesday 20th September

After picking Blake up from daycare we loaded the kids and bikes and headed to the mudflats for Jade to have a ride....

Mom and Dad came out with Dad's bike too - so Blake got to go for a ride which was great for him :)

Blake's a bit of a rev head.... "Faster Grandpa... FASTER!!!!" 

Jade was really getting into the concept of standing while riding - and was even getting up speed and riding over every bump she could find....

Blake discovered the tyre swing... so after making sure it didn't have spiders in it (eeeeeek!) I put him on for a swing....

With the tyre being so big - he was a bit of an effort for Blake to hold on - so we didn't play there for too long....

Standing up was a bit easier - but it meant he was leaning back more... 

Jade then asked Blake to chase her....

They have some *serious* discussions at times...

But they love each other to bits... :)

Taylah over to play on school holidays.....

Monday 19th September...

Jade invited Taylah over for the day on Monday (being the official first day of school holidays) - we firstly headed to the park.. but the kids were wanting to head back to the house within half an hour... (should have picked a different park!!!)

The girls went straight for Jade's room and started playing dressups....  (luckily Jade's had some of the dresses for a few years (Disney princess/fairy dressups) - so there were ones that would fit Taylah....  Then they started saying how hot it was... so we got the kids into togs and pulled out the paddling pool that we got last year (which really needs to go in the bin - it was such a bad purchase... but - the kids had fun)

We got out two hoses (cause one hose with two little girls causes problems with who gets to fill the pool....)

At this point - they had the kids swapping who was holding the hoses and spraying into the pool while the third would jump in and try to make a big splash by landing on their bums....

Taylah made a big splash for such a little person...

Jade made a huge splash

and apparently this is Blake landing on his bum.... (we couldn't convince him to land on his bum)

Jade was spraying into her mouth...

Then Blake started spraying Jade in the face too - so there was water everywhere...

drinking water out of the Frisbee apparently makes it taste better.....
