Blake's first major health scare......

Wednesday 13th January.....

I had meant to post this earlier... it's been a busy few weeks with Rob away (as usual)...

On Wednesday afternoon I'd decided to take the kids to Mom and Dad's place for the afternoon after daycare so that I could have a relaxing afternoon before taking them home for dinner and bed..... (days just seem to take so much longer when Rob's away)...

We'd been at Mom and Dad's place all of about 10mins when we realised that Blake had got into Gran's room and sprinkled her blood pressure medication all over her room... we found the remains of one tablet in his mouth and not knowing how much he had taken - off we went to the hospital.....

The joy of not knowing how much he'd had was that he got strapped to a heart monitor for a 4hr observation period... and not up in the kids ward where they're prepared for this kind of thing... I had to hold him still for 4hrs..... by the time we got home, my back was so sore.....

figured he'd had enough to deal with - didn't wanna scrub his tummy too....

After everything, he was fine - we think he may have bitten the tablet but spat most of it out.... it's amazing how quickly they can get into things.... there's no taking your eye off him for a minute now... which makes life 10x more tiring.... but it's worth it....

Cowboy & Cowgirl day at daycare....

Yesterday was Cowboy & Cowgirl day at daycare.... luckily I managed to find a decorated Romper for Blake..... so much easier than trying to get him into an outfit of sorts....

I was a bit disappointed to find when I got to daycare that not many parents had bothered to dress their kids - apparently by the end of the day there were a few dressed up kids... but I saw all of about 4 when I got there (including my two)....

Rob finally got home last night too.... although this trip wasn't as long as previous trips - he was only gone for a complete week (well - a week and 3hrs... but who's counting!!!)...

He walked in the door and half an hour later I walked out the door to go to the movies.... I went to see "The Lovely Bones" - it was a good movie... apparently the book is a lot better, so I may have to get a hold of the book and have a look.....

Hoping that while Rob is home we can get a few more things done - I might send him down to work the day in the shed to go through the computer carcasses and get rid of the rubbish ones...

and maybe a beach trip in the late arvo once Blake's woken up....

Monday Trampolining with Emily.....

Bec and Emily came over on Monday (11th) to play.... the trampoline is definitely getting it's fair share of use... :)

Unfortunately I couldn't get many pics... too much going on down there.. had to put the camera down after about a minute.....

Sunday (10th January) was to be a nice calm day here..... so we found things at home to keep ourselves amused......

Jade had her DS with her new game that she bought with the Christmas money from GG... so she was busy playing that.... and Blake found a universal touchscreen remote thingy - that he figured was JUST as good as the DS... so he lay on the floor playing with it with Jade... he's such a little mimic....

He got bored with the remote after a while - and wanted to see what Jade was doing on the DS...

Jade was too busy eating the stylus (yup - you can see it in her cheeks....) - and watching Little Einstein's on the TV...

Next best option to a remote.... a Bead Rail toy....

When Blake went down for his sleep - Jade asked if she could do a jigsaw.... so I figured I'd pull out the 100 piece puzzles that I'd bought her a while ago when she was interested in Jigsaws.... she was doing the 50 piece puzzles in about 5-10mins... and getting really bored.. then she got bored with the whole jigsaw concept - so I didn't push the issue....

But, she wanted to do one - so out they came.....

I must admit I did help her put the outside of the jigsaw together - she did do a lot of it on her own - but she put all of the insides together... it took her about 30mins - and that was also considering she gets distracted easily and was looking at other things...

After she'd finished this jigsaw - I pulled out the Tinkerbell one.... that didn't end up happening - most of the jigsaw was orange.... so it wasn't as easy for her... plus the pieces were camouflaging in with the dining table.... so it really was a tricky puzzle... we'll attempt it tomorrow when Blake goes down for his sleep.....

Tooth #12 is through!!!

This tooth actually cut properly on Friday..... (8th) - bottom right molar...... so yay Blake!!!! hopefully he'll have a little break before getting the next four.......

Random Jade Quotes......

Travelling home from Mom and Dad's yesterday - we got to the T intersection just down from our place... ahead of us we can see 4 men standing on a verandah enjoying a drink at the end of a hard days work.... two of these men do not have shirts on....

Jade "oh.... they have no shirts on... they SHOULD have shirts on.... that's NOT a good look!"

Me "Just like when Daddy doesn't wear a shirt?"

Jade "yup"

Me "so, did you want to tell Daddy that he has to wear a shirt all the time?" (hoping that Jade may convince him to wear shirts)

Jade "oh no.... Daddy is ok to not wear a shirt....."

After Blake's first hair cut

Jade "Oh Blake, you're one sexy little dude!"

Rob was away - and I'd said to Jade on Monday night that she had to help me and be good while Daddy is away.... so I was having one of the quickest showers in he history of showers (the joys of kids! no more nice long showers)... and I can hear Jade talking to Blake...

Jade "Blake, you know while Daddy is away - you have to be really really good for Mummy, now put THAT down!"

On the way home from daycare today, Jade handed Blake a little picture of a person that she'd drawn and cut out .....

Jade "here you go Blake, I made this JUST FOR YOU!"

Blake then grabs the little person paper - rips it.....

Jade "*SCREAM* Oh No!!!! he's RIPPED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Blake then proceeded to EAT the little paper man....

Gran gave the kids money for Christmas - the intention was that it would go into their Bank Accounts, but - Jade found out that Xander got to use a voucher to buy his own toys at the toy shop and Jade asked if she could spend her money at the toy shop too.... so today, we went to Big W....

Jade "with my money, I'm going to buy a new DS game...... *slight pause*.... with Blake's money - he's going to buy me this Big Barbie Castle" (poor Blake.....) (oh - and the barbie castle was $119 - so there was no way Blake was going to buy that for Jade - or me for that matter)

Blake ended up getting some "baby" size blocks..... so about twice the size of the Duplo blocks....

Jade "Blake, REALLY, wants to share these with me.... *two minutes happy play* NO BLAKE.... LEAVE THEM... I'M PLAYING WITH THEM!!!!!!"

I'll try to post more of these as they happen.... just some of the things aren't things that are blog worthy - not that they're rude... just that in years to come - Jade will hate me for posting it... :)

Blake's first hair cut.....

Today Blake had his hair cut for the first time...... Jade got hers cut first "to show Blake that it's not scary"

Blake happily played with the toys for a little while before getting his hair cut, I was trying to get a photo of his fluffy hair... but he wouldn't pose for me... (my non-poser!!)

Blake got straight in the chair - and happily had the coat put on....

Introducing Baby Declan James Kidd

So, I finally made it around to meet Declan yesterday.... Blake was sleeping at home so Rob agreed to keep an ear out for him so that I could duck over to Damian & Jaime's to see de baby!

Isn't he just so tiny??

(6lb 11oz in comparison to my two of 9lb10oz and 9lb 4.5oz....)

Jaime's looking SOOOOOOOOOOO good... you'd not guess she'd just had a baby....

Was a great visit.... We were going to have Xander here today - but after a bad night with Blake I cancelled all visting plans for the day...

This morning, my day started at 3am... poor Blake was very unhappy... cranky bottom - etc.. so by 7am I was at the end of my tether... so we headed over to Mom and Dad's place in hope that I'd be able to detach Blake.... but he wouldn't even go to Dad - who is his Hero.... he really wasn't a happy little boy...

Blake eventually settled down once he was playing in the sandpit and I managed to duck away to make coffee (another thing I desperately needed by 7am!!!) - - - we got him home and to bed at 9:30am.... he had two sleeps today which was great... not HUGE sleeps - only an hour and a half each time, or thereabouts.. but enough to keep him going...

He seems to have settled down this evening - so fingers crossed he's at the end of this bug....

and now, I need sleep...

New Years Eve......

Ant phoned on Wednesday afternoon to advise that he'd landed in Rocky and was in town for a few days.... so he booked train tickets and travelled down to Gladstone to spend New Years Eve (only the day though) in Gladstone.....

We had a great day... firstly, we went and had coffee - and went to Pillowtalk to get me a new doona cover set.... (that's what Ant is for! Shopping!!!!! Oh - I miss shopping in Sydney on Saturday mornings!!!)

After we'd finished shopping, we headed home.... as you'd expect, Ant saw the trampoline (not that you can really miss it - it's HUGE!) - so he had to have a go... I wouldn't expect any less!

After this, we headed to the movies to watch Sherlock Holmes.... honestly, I could have taken it or left it... I'd been told it was good - but it was very slow to start with.... was a good movie - just not hype worthy I don't think.......

Once the movie finished, we headed off to the Daycare to pick up Jade and Blake.... Jade was a little confused by Ant, but Blake took to him straight away.... (which is unusual, Blake's a bit cautious about who he wants to be with.. especially at the moment with him being not 100%)....

We went to check on Jade, she and Rob were playing Band Hero... she loves this... singing! Especially when she knows the song.... Kung Fu Fighting is her favourite song - from her "Panda Movie"

Blake wasn't so interested in the Band Hero - but more in the Pump Bottle that Jade left on the floor for him.... (or - so he'd have you believe)

As for our New Years.... We generally have a party at our place... (with little kids - there is no more going out to party at night... responsibilities and all that......) - this year we cancelled.. Blake hasn't been 100% and it's a very long night...

We got Blake to bed - got pizza and watched 2 futurama movies that Rob got from his mother for Christmas (that had finally arrived the day before... yay Australia Post!!!) and at 9pm - we advised Jade that it was midnight and sent her to bed....

We were in bed about 30mins later..... ahhh... yay small children huh?? It's all good though - most of my old Sydney friends had the same kind of night - stayed in due to small children... so I didn't feel that I was the only one not partying :)
