Brooweena Classic Trials Competition - 2009 - Day One

We went to Brooweena a day early this year.... Smack was coming up from Tassie (instead of flying into Gladstone and travelling down with us - he was driving up and bringing his own bike) - so we headed down there early to spend an extra evening with him....

Smack, Pete & Pete Mack (Smack's brother) rocked up at 10pm or so.... I'd given up waiting for them (as I was sitting on my own waiting . .and at 9:30 I gave up and went to bed...) - but I heard them turn up - so I went out to greet them.... Blake woke at 10:30 - so I had to go back to the caravan and get him back to sleep...

It was unbelievably cold.... I had the sleeping bag over my head for most of the night trying to warm up enough to sleep.... unfortunately - the cold was getting to blake too - so I had to put him into bed with me - but then he was too hot - so I was having to uncover a bit - so I froze... I can't win! :)

Anyway, was a great first night - even if I only spent about 30mins with smack and pete... (smack's brother went to bed soon after they arrived....)

38 today, 38 today.. hip hip hoooray... he's 38 today!

We had a long day today... started at 5am - I woke up and no noise from Blake - so I'd decided that I'd keep trying to sleep... then I started worrying about whether I'd get everything done in time to leave on time for work - etc etc etc.... so I got up and showered - and by the time I got out - Blake was awake... and Rob even managed to get out of bed at 5:30... probably giving him a baby while I got myself dressed didn't help with his sleep in! :)

Anyway, busy day at work... and trying to instruct Rob on things that needed to be done so that we'd be ready to leave tomorrow when I finish work... so we need to make sure all is packed today... (not that that has actually happened - but we're 95% complete - just need to pack bedding now as well as cold food and we're ready!)

I spent the entire afternoon running from one end of the house to the other and trying to pack clothes and put away ironing - and get other washing done and dried... as well as trying to clean up for when people came over tonight - and make sure that hte floor wasn't too dirty - etc etc etc.... busy busy :)

5pm came - the kids were home (thanks to Jaime for picking them up from Mom's and from Daycare!!!!) - house was clean....ish.... just had to feed Blake and sponge him clean (gotta make sure he doesn't get his ears wet - and he just enjoys his bath way too much to avoid water in the ears in there!!!) - he wasn't overly impressed when he realised that once he got naked he didn't get into the bath...

We tried putting Blake to bed - but that doesn't happen when you have a house full of people and a social butterfly like he is (and like his sister!)

Oh Look!!! Rob got the same card twice.... he only got 3 cards this year... one from Aunty Bet.... one from his Dad and one from his Mother... (and it was his father and mother that bought the same cards!! how weird is that?!? ehehe - I think it's all the Daddy/Daughter motorbike picture that got their attention!! I probably would have picked that one too!) (as for the other cards... I haven't had time to get cards, and Mom forgot when she was out rushing around yesterday... it's just been so insanely busy here lately... and with me back at work - no one has spare time!)

(The Shade cloth has been hemmed and had eyelets put in - you use tent pegs and peg it into the ground to make a floor under the annexe of the caravan - will be handy this weekend so that people aren't trapsing mud through the van!)

I've usually been making the cakes lately - but I've just been too busy this week.... and I was going to go and buy one.... but this saved time and money!!! win-win!

Monday at Gran and Pa's....

Blake has now mastered the art of pulling himself up on things.... as well as letting go and landing on his bum (which he thinks is quite funny.... I guess because people laugh too...)

He's also mastered the art of cruising furniture... and climbing stairs... although I don't have that on vid yet... I'll get it soon enough....

Because Blake is more mobile - Jade has now decided that he's also indestructible - so she figures she can pick him up and carry him to places.... and he is quite capable of being carried and doesn't get too upset by it all...

Blake's first Antibiotics.....

I was so proud to say that Jade had made it past 3.5 without needing antibiotics - and then with the falling out of bed incident got her first dose of them....

Today when I picked Blake up from Mom's, she'd told me that Blake had had a waxxy ear earlier in the day - so I just figured I"d keep an eye on it....

To see him, you wouldn't have guessed anything was wrong.... but when I took him out of the bath I noticed that it was oozing... so called the doctors to get an appointment tomorrow and was told to come straight down....

He's got a middle ear infection and it's burst the ear drum.... I gasped when I heard that... but she said that it's reasonably common in babies and young children - so she wasn't too worried and gave me a script....

Unfortunately, it may mean that this weekend we aren't going to go away... but here's hoping that he's cleared up by Friday and we'll make a final decision at the time... it does mean that I wont be competing though, but at least if we can go down - Rob can ride - and we'll get lots of photos... :)

(and to think - I've just managed to get back into my smaller mx pants... so disappointing!!!)

Last week we missed Dad's birthday... I'd spent the entire day getting ready for my school reunion... and on Sunday - Mom and Dad headed off to a trials comp - so we didn't see them that day either (except for when they brought the kids home at 7am....which put any idea of a late night out of the question... we were home and in bed by 12:30....)

Well, today after Gymnastics - Rob and Jade headed off to Bunnings to buy Dad's birthday present... Blake and I stayed at home to finish making Dad's cake...

he enjoyed the spatula thingy ... but you can see that he's not 100%... teething isn't fun for this little guy....
