New Camera!!!

As most people are aware - the D80 died a month or so ago (it's currently off being repaired under warranty - so it's not 100% traumatic)... but since then we've been using our old Nokia 4500 (nearly 6yrs old - and it's definitely going downhill quickly - pics aren't always clear - etc - but 6yrs isn't a bad life for a digital camera - so we're not worried).
But, I've been dying without my camera... it's always much easier to blog when you have pictures to blog with...
Rob's been hassling me to get a D300 - and he's been losing... I don't see the point in spending that kind of money on a camera when I'm happy just taking happy snaps... and he's the one who wants to take all the arty photos.... but he doesn't have the spare time... and by the time he does - there'll probably be a D4000 or something out - and he'll want that....
Yesterday, he convinced me that a D60 is a good option for a "spare" camera... when I say "spare" - it will actually be the camera that he takes with him when he's heading out to remote sites and he needs to get pictures of any faults with the sites to send back to their head offices... and yes, a clicky clicky camera would do this trick too (not the 4500 - because it's taking blurry photos) - but, having a spare SLR makes sense when you're trying to keep your un-blogging-wife happy!! :)
So, we got a kit with two VR lenses - but for now, while the D80 is away - I'm just going to use my 18-200 VR lens that we bought to go with the 80... (that's the bonus of buying a camera the same as make your old one - you can switch over the lenses whenever you want!)
This morning, I grabbed the new camera and started taking my happy snaps... Jade was really in a posing mood - so it was fun... then she wanted to look at a pic... they don't stay on the screen long enough once you've taken the pic - so I pressed the button to preview the photo and got the "no memory card" flash up on screen... now the D80 wont do this.. if you try to take a pic with no memory card - it wont let you....
I'm so glad I was only taking play pics at home! I would have been annoyed if I'd been out somewhere - taking what I thought were good pics... and to get home and find nothing stored....
I went and got the SD card and put it in.... by then, Jade was a little over the posing....

This pic is inspired by the question "who's my monster??" -- the people at Jade's school all know that we call her monster... or feral... but monster doesn't seem as nasty.. but now she's taken to playing the part with extra effort!!

Getting Slack....

Ok, my posts have been getting slack...

Pregnancy really seems to be knocking me for a 6 this time around... at least it'll be the last time... :)

Last week was a full week... I was at a friends accountancy firm doing my parents books on their computer system and the rest of the week had been filled with my GTT scan (Glucose Tolerance Test) on Tuesday and then another hospital visit to Rocky on Wednesday - so by the end of the week I was knackered.....

This week I'd decided that I'd try to take it a bit easier so that I could get back into the swing of things without feeling so lifeless.... on Tuesday, Rob was called out to Emerald - so I went with... on the way I got dropped off at my friend's place (I haven't seen her since our wedding.... so she hasn't met Jade - and I hadn't met Joel (her little guy who is 20months)

Rob got back to Katrina's place and managed to spend a little time before we had to start heading home.... while we're there... I hear a knock on the door... Katrina didn't believe it at first - because no one drops in on her out there... but then we heard the knock again...

She goes to the door to find some strange guy standing there going "would you mind moving your car???" (ok - this had us confused, until we looked outside... and there's the prado.. parked in the middle of the street.... Rob had arrived and got out of the car without putting on the handbrake or leaving it in gear!! clever boi!!!)

This is where the Prado *should* have been!

Oh, and I believe that he's trying to blame the angle of the driveway!! hehe

After getting back from Emerald - I pretty much spent the next two days in bed - puggle has moved up to just under my ribcage and he's making the process of keeping food down a little difficult at the moment.....

Friday I would have been ok, I wasn't feeling ill.. unfortunately at 2am, Jade came into the room and it took me til just after 4am to get her back to sleep.... (I can't wait til she's over this cold for good...) I was worried that after being up for that long at night that she'd sleep in and it would make it difficult to take her to school - but she was up at 7:20 so we were running a teensy bit late - got there just before the kids had to go to their rooms but she was suprisingly alert... :) (again, I was absolutely buggered from having another ruined night's sleep... :)

This morning, Mom and Dad dropped off a single bed that they've had to move out of their place to make room for a double bed that they've brought back from the unit - so we've put it into the nursery and taken out the baby bed....

I figured I should go and get a doona and a doona set for the bed - so that it's not just collecting dust for the next two years until Puggle is big enough to migrate from the cot.... Jade is convinced that there are sharks on the doona - I can't see any... She didn't like the doona cover at first... but then she was ok when she realised it wasn't for her bed.... she's happy with her Dora Doona....

Proud Mommy Moment......

It appears that Jade is mastering the skill of riding her bicycle without training wheels....

She's still got a couple of months til her 3rd Birthday - so I really wasn't pushing the issue... But today, Dad took the training wheels off her bike and was walking her around the yard and letting her go on her own...

Now, I'm not one of those parents who's into the whole "baby olympics" (my baby is better than your baby - yada yada)... But, this is a huge achievement... it may also end up being something that was only happening when she was on a downhill and getting up momentum...

Tomorrow, Mom and Dad are going to take Jade out on the 16" bicycle - which is bigger than the one she's been riding (because I'd taken the 16" home - Jade had decided that the 12" would do for now... and has been riding that the last couple of weeks).. So, I'm hoping to get some film of her actually riding so that you know that I'm not making up stuff....

Multicultural Fair at Historic Village in Rocky....

The trials club was invited to do a presentation at the Historic Village again, at a permanent section that has been set up for them. I wasn't sure if we were going to head up - but we ended up going.... it makes for a very long day... but generally she'll sleep in the car on the way home - so she's not too bad when we get home....
Not the case today... she was awake for both the trip to Rockhampton and the trip home.... so she's really really tired right now....
Anyway, we saw that kids had their faces painted - so we went to find the face painting, Jade was determined to be a pirate... which changed when she saw the Fairy Wand.. so she wanted to be a fairy and get the wand...
The first time we went there - a bunch of kids pushed in infront of Jade - so we ended up leaving and decided to go back later when there wasn't a queue....
Leeanne and Caitie turned up - so we headed off again to see about getting their faces painted... this time there was no queue - so it was all systems go.... they both picked the same design - so that made things even easier...

This is the first time Jade has ever had her face painted - so I wasn't sure if she was going to sit still through the process... but she did :)

After this, we decided to head off and have a look at a few of the stalls... there were baby animals there too - so that was a highlight for Jade...
We then found a few kids rides... well - the "Tea Cup" ride and a few jumping castles....

Jade has now had a bath and we're getting ready to mooch the evening away... I'm so tired... gotta decide on something to cook for dinner too... Greg should be home from work soon...

Rob's in Toowoomba again... and is going to be down there a few more days longer than he'd originally planned...

This week I've got my Glucose Tolerance Test (which makes me really ill) - and then another visit with the Doctors up in Rocky... FUN!!!! 14 weeks to go! not that I'm counting!!!!

Big Week!

Uncle John (my Uncle) arrived in Rockhampton on Tuesday last week.... so Jade got to "wag" school and come up to Rocky for a drive with us....

She'd never met Uncle John before - but you would never have guessed.... when he came through the doors at the airport she ran to him and gave him a big hug..... and then he gave Jade a big doll...

This doll was my cousin Narelle's doll that her grandmother had made for her.... so it's definitely got some history... and I remember it from when I was younger....

I would have posted pics from Xander's birthday party - but I forgot to take the camera out to get any pics... and we ended up leaving early... it had been a long day for Jade and I as we went to Jaime's place early to help with the preparations for the evening - and Jade didn't have her afternoon sleep... We got home just before 8pm and she was asleep by about ten past.... she was pooped!!!
That didn't seem to get in the way on Sunday when she was all systems go for the entire morning... we went to the park at the Marina and then headed around to visit Uncle Frank for a little while before getting home for our lunch sleep.....

Rob had been away for another week (surprise surprise!!!) - and he finally got home Sunday afternoon... so that was a nice surprise for Jade when she woke from her afternoon sleep... :)

We all headed to Mom and Dad's, cause guess who was also back in town!!!
