Melbourne - Superbikes Trip 2011 - Day 6

Thursday 24th February

Today we just had a quiet day... Narelle, Shaf, Damien & Edmond headed home...   I was supposed to get out on a road ride but that ended up being cancelled due to work (not mine - obviously) - which turned out to be a good thing....

I was up at 2am being sick, but when I got out of bed in the morning I seemed to be feeling better, although, I did have a killer headache which I guess was a dehydration thing... so that wasn't a problem...

Rob got up at 5:30am due to a work phone call (which makes it 4:30 our usual time, so it was a bit nasty), but then he went back to bed feeling crook....

He spent the morning in bed, achy and feverish..... so I took the kids shopping to restock on yoghurt and all the essentials (as well as a ToyStory surprise egg each.....) - Also got them a couple of DVD's... and Legends of the Guardians (I believe) - because Jade has been wanting to see it....

So we settled in for a relaxing lunch.....

Kids getting ready to watch a DVD....  I just had to get this pic quickly because Blake looked so cute with his little legs crossed.... (I didn't notice the chocolate on his face until I'd already got the pic - and after I cleaned him up - he wasn't sitting like that! He also didn't have his shoes on....)

Clean!

He did scratch his cheek yesterday...  not sure what on... but if he didn't have a cut or scrape somewhere, he just wouldn't be Blake!

Jade getting comfy on the couch...

After I put Blake down for his sleep, I went to bed... I suggested to Rob that he take Jade out for icecream and to try to keep her at a park somewhere, so that Blake could have a decent sleep....  little did I know that Blake wasn't willing to sleep and didn't go to sleep for an hour or so after putting him in bed.....

Rob took Jade for Icecream, then took her to a park we'd seen on the drive onto the Island, then took her to play Crazy Golf.... then brought her home - via the icecream shop so that they could bring icecream home....

Easy evening for the kids...

We fed the kids yoghurt for dinner.... and got them settled on the couch to watch Legends of the Guardians... Blake was more interested in reading The Cat in the Hat.... and he was turning pages and saying odd words... I'm sure he thought he was reading... with the odd giggle in there...

Jade comfy watching the movie....

Bath Time.....

It's so simple, put a plug in the bottom of the shower, voilĂ  - Bath...  and the kids love it... trying to pull them out of the bath at the end of it is the challenge.... although, tonight, Blake closed the screen door on Jade's finger, so it didn't take much to get her out of the bath.....

Trying to get them both to smile at once is impossible sometimes!

"I know! lets break his neck then I can make him look at you!!!!"

Jade got in trouble for being rough with Blake, so we have one slightly happy face and one little grump....

Smiling behind the screen door... that's not fair!

Individually they do fine!

Apparently - blowing raspberries is giggle worthy!!!
(I'll have to keep that in mind for next time!)

Melbourne - Superbikes Trip 2011 - Day 5

Wednesday 23rd February

We took the kids to the local "wildlife" park...

Jade & Blake were fascinated by the Emus that we saw when we first arrived....

When you enter, they give you a bag of feed for every "paying" customer.... so we got 5 bags.... (the 2 little kids were free)

Blake loved feeding the Wallabies

I'm sure they were getting frustrated with him, sometimes he'd not open his hands at all.... so they'd have to try to work around his fingers....

Jade wasn't wanting to feed the wallabies because I'd said that they'd slurp on her hands... ehehe  So she was dropping food for the animals inside contained areas....

Me showing Jade that it doesn't hurt to feed them....

We told Jade that the Koalas were awake, so we rushed off to see them....
She looked at them for 5 seconds and then was apparently bored and wanted to move on...

Blake kept coming back for more food... we think he was trying to see if he could make the wallabies pop!

Black Swans....

Jade eventually gave it a try... then she was hooked!

Everyone was excited to see the joey....

There was a big open field with the Kangaroos.... the kids were very excited to go and feed these guys....  Unfortunately we'd run out of food... So Rob went back to the office to get more food....

It appears that the Emus were watching Rob appear with his bag filled with feed.....  they wouldn't leave him alone.... so he gave in and decided to give the emu some...

I have never seen a bird peck so quickly.... Rob was a bit scared...

and eventually emptied the bag on the ground....

Apparently one complete bag of feed wasn't enough and the emu kept walking circles around Rob to try to get more food....

Jade was giving Rob instructions on feeding Kangaroos... she's an expert now and she'll tell you so!

Blake was tired, so we put him in his pram and we were giving him potato chips...

The emu spotted the potato chips...

And stole them......

Not Happy!!!

We got both kids down for a sleep after lunch.... Rob even went to sleep....   For dinner the boys (Rob & Shaf) went to get dinner while Narelle and I took the kids to the park.... we ate at the park and played until it was time to get kids bathed and off to bed.....

(Blake wasn't interested in having his pic taken last night - but he figures he had enough photos at the Wildlife Park... eheh  - I think all of the kids are over the camera by now!)

Melbourne - Superbikes Trip 2011 - Day 4 - back at the Caravan Park

Tuesday 22nd February

Finally got Blake to sleep around 4pm....  (local time) and he didn'tg et up til 7:15pm and only because we had to wake him and get him ready to go see the penguins....

I tried to have a sleep as my eyes are practically falling out of my head... (Blake has woken every night since we've been down here at 3am - which is making sleeping well a very difficult task)... Unfortunately when you're trying to sleep, everyone else in the world appears to be against that concept...

Jade running up and down the verandah - opening and closing the sliding doors which bang every time they get to their centre....

I eventually gave up and got my inlines out of the van to try to at least keep Jade occupied and away from the cabin so that Blake could sleep....

When I put them on, i was worried that I was going to stand up and fall flat on my face... it's been about 10 months since I last wore inlines....   I'm back in the world of skating on quads... so the inlines have been left in the cupboard....

Jade was very impressed.... although it did mean having to skate slowly cause every time I'd zoom past her - she'd have a melt-down....

going downhill requires constant slowing down...

Amber got back to the van park and pulled her scooter out and joined in...

Rob decided to pull his inlines out... when he said about packing them I laughed at him, but dug them out anyway.....

Rob hasn't worn skates since we first started dating... I think he last skated when we took the boys out to a rink in about July 2002....

And it shows...

Although, to his credit, he did not fall over - and he did skate a little bit! :)

Blake zonked out....

Happily sleeping....

After his sleep, we got the kids dressed to go to the penguins... it's always very cold down there, so we made sure the kids were beanied up and had gloves on.... (Blake's set had a scarf too.... so he was definitely roasty toasty)

Everyone ready and waiting to go....

I wore my derby start-skully hoodie ....  it's sooooooooooooo warm - but way too big!
BUT.... WARM!
