Tannum Sands with friends.....

Monday 13th June

Tannum Sands has upgraded their kids play area.... and we had a long weekend this weekend... so we decided that we'd head out to Tannum to check out the new play area and have a BBQ... so I got the word out on Friday (cause I'm all about early planning.... and I realise that most people have their long weekends planned months in advance... except for me, I'm trying to keep as little organised as possibly lately as it feels like we've always got a million things on the go......  Anyway, back to my post.....)

I got hold of Cindy, Melissa & Kathryn (mother's of three of the kids in Jade's prep class) and Jaime & Cat.... to see if anyone wanted to come out with us....  There had been a bit of discussion about whether Tannum would be busy with the Hook-Up being that weekend too... but no one (apart from Cat & a tentative maybe from Jaime) had really said whether they'd go either way... So I'd pretty much figured it was a non-event and nearly called it off... 

Apparently, when you call these events off is when everyone says that they'll go... hehe...  So apart from Kathryn (who was stuck with a sick household) - everyone came...12 kids... 10 adults... we had a great day....

Blake had just come down the slide for the first time... that was his "excited" face - but I think he just ended up looking evil.. ehehe a side that no one really gets to see of him... :)  (yet!)

Jade discovered this spinny thing... it was just there in the park and none of the kids had really noticed it - and then Jade sat in it... not sure she'd realised at first what it was about - but then it started turning.... between here and the flying fox is where the kids spent 80% of their day....  (and it's amazingly easy to get kids to get off the thing - an adult goes up and spins it really quickly - and then they want to get off for some reason!)

Xander kept doing "goofy" smile... I tried really hard to get him to smile properly - but I think he's in "show off the big teeth" mode... :)  plus - it pops the dimples!

They had this - I'm not sure what it was about, it had a scoop on a chair which ran up and down the silver pole you can see to Jade's right... and if you put sand on the rotor that you can only just see infront of Jade - it could spin... other than that - I'm not sure what the thinking was here - but Blake spent a lot of time putting sand on top of it and then dusting it off.... (as well as filling the spherical shape....)

(oh, when we got to Tannum - someone was cooking bacon - so the boys decided that we HAD to have bacon and eggs - so they went out to buy some....  I'm not completely complaining because in the rush of everything I hadn't had breakfast... but they all had!)

Jade got hit in the head with the flying fox... 

The theory is that she was down the end of the flying fox run making sandcastles and stood up and copped the bottom of the flying fox....  

It's not easy to photograph this kind of thing.. and it looked a helluva lot worse in person than it did in the photos... (as well as the fact that these pics were taken about half an hour after the event... so it'd been iced and Jade had settled down again)

I'm still waiting for Jade to get up this morning to see if she'll have a shiner for Show and Tell....

(and I'm sure she'd proudly get up and tell the class about her valiant efforts to take on a flying fox at full speed!)

I have never seen 3 kids play as happily together as these guys do...   (generally 3 kids means that it's 2 against 1... but not with these three)

I think Blake was telling Jade how he wanted his sandcastle made....

(she'd managed it here - and I asked her to put her arm all the way through... and I believe that then caused a collapse.... but there is at least evidence that her tunnel did go right through!)

Jade loved the skateboard too....

We had a great day.... we ended up taking Kaden home with us (because I'd said to Cindy that I wanted to keep Jade up for the afternoon because of the bang to the head....) - and because we only had room for one kid to come home with us - we asked Melissa if she'd like to drop Eli over for the afternoon.....  

Jodi came over once we got home with Gemma & Amy to visit and pick up Jade's outgrown clothes (which - by the looks of her shorts from today - we'll have to do again soon..... little miss growth spurts!) - so we had the kids running around... they wanted the jumping castle set up - and then played on it for all of 5 maybe 10 minutes....  the Trampoline is always the winner at our place....

Blake hadn't had a day sleep - and I told him to go and watch Ben10 in our room (because he was getting a little tetchy.... and I thought it would just calm him down... next thing we know, he's fallen asleep on our bed and covered himself up in the doona...  I didn't take a photo because I didn't want to risk waking him....  he slept for nearly 2hrs.... so that was at least something!)
