Today was the day, the game started a little later than planned due to the fact that they hadn't organised referees... but it didnt' seem to bother the kids at all...
Greg didn't go on the field at first and we weren't sure if he was just a backup or whether he's get to play (even he wasn't too sure when he first headed off for the day) - but he was on the field about halfway through the first half... and was taking down kids left right and centre... there weren't many kids that got past him... so I think they were happy that he was on their team..
We were talking to some of the other parents while sitting up in the stands and they couldn't believe that this was his first game ever... "No, you mean his first rep game right?" "no... first GAME - he'll have his first club game in a few weeks time"... but he really seems to know what he's doing.... (but they do muck around a heap at school)
pre-game warm ups.... (plus you can just see in the side of the photo - that kid HAS piggy tails! we weren't sure at first... but they were!)
This was Greg's first tackle... in the four shots you can see him push the kid, then get him down - hold him down, and then stand back up, making sure he stayed down! he really looked the part...
