Time to expand the family!

Tuesday 4th August

After the kids had finished school, we loaded into the car and headed down to Bundaberg... we were heading to Hervey Bay on Wednesday to pick up our new greyhound... when we headed down we knew of two dogs down there...  Honey (a 5yr old girl) and Marvel (a 2yr old boy)... The kids had decided before we'd even left that they wanted Honey - but the plan was to meet the dogs and then decide...

Chilling out at Gran and Pa's

Wednesday 5th August

The next morning, I dreaded the idea of having to get takeaway for the entire trip and with Mom and Dad staying at our place, there was no milk in the house etc.... so I raided the cupboards and the kids happily had nutella on toast and I had a fluffy coffee that does not require milk! :)

And we're off!

We arrived early, our appointment was 10am - but we got there at 9am and they let us into pound to have a look at all of the dogs....  We didn't realise until then, that they had 10 greyhounds... poor lovely dogs... we could have taken them all home....

After checking out all of the dogs inside the pound we arranged to go and see Honey - she was in a foster home....Once we met Honey, there was no way I'd be able to convince the kids to pick any other dog.. she was so sweet and friendly and the kids basically yoinked her from the foster carer and went "yup, we'll take her"

We arranged the seats in the car so that both kids could pay her attention on the way home, we weren't sure how happily she was going to travel the distance....

After filling out all of the paperwork and handing over our money, Honey was ours.... we then started our long trip home, we stopped a couple of times to let Honey have a bit of a run and a loo break....   She was very excited to get to the house - bounded up the stairs... and then couldn't go down them... so Rob worked with her to go down them.. then she bounded up again... when Rob tried to convince her to try to walk down again and she wouldn't... she ended up having to be carried down... and now she flat out refuses to even try to come upstairs.... but she's happily made herself at home downstairs and loves having the yard to go crazy running around.....
