ARGH!!! Nits!!!!!

I really don't have any luck.... my kids are clean... yet they get nits.... well.... it's been Jade a couple of times now (and all in the last six months!)

This time, it was Blake... so this is officially his first Nit attack... here's hoping there aren't a helluva lot more down the track....

We decided to treat both kids - just incase.... Jade didn't have any - I checked.... but to be on the safe side.... but in doing so, I only had the one "nit-cap" - so I had to improvise with Blake.... so he got Jade's swimming cap... he thought that was kewl.....

We were talking to Jade about putting the stuff in her hair and she said "that's cause I have Headlights???" "Kinda.... Blake has head LICE"..... :)

Oh, and there was a kids birthday at daycare today - so they got their faces painted.... all the boys... AND JADE.... were "T-Rex's" apparently :)

The bicycle is getting a bit more attention.....

For someone who got on her first bicycle and loved every minute of being on a bike of any description - we thought Jade would have grown up attached to a two-wheeled device of some description all of her life....

Mom and Dad had said all along that once Blake took an interest in riding his bikes around, then Jade was going to pick it up.....

They were right.... Blake lives for being on a bike.... Motorbike, bicycle or trike.... he's not fussy... as long as he can go around going "Brrrrrr Brrrrrr" - he doesn't mind.... (he even likes his truck for riding.. he's really not fussy)

Jade has recently started riding her bmx around mom and dad's caravan on the concrete slab and has even made a ramp to get up onto the slab from the lawn..... even if she loses her balance a bit - she just puts her foot down, catches herself and then keeps going.... here's hoping this is the start of something more!

EcoFest 2010

Sunday 6th June....

Ecofest was on again.... this is a great day out - and not just because pretty much everything is free - including rides and face painting for the kids.....

They had "children's crafts" where the kids could make various things....

The kids were exhausted by the time we headed home... just in time to have lunch and get Blake down for a sleep.... Jade was asked to keep quiet while Blake slept - so she happily painted her "How to tame your dragon" book that Uncle Frank gave her and watched movies (she knows how to pick them and turn them on.... she's a g33k in the making!)

After Blake woke up we headed to Mom and Dad's place.... well .... Blake and I did....

Jade stayed at home to play Portal with Rob.... Rob keeps trying to say that I want to play this game - but - I don't have time to keep my blog updated regularly enough - I surely don't need a computer game to pass the time :)

Blake decided that he no longer needed just a trike to ride around.... if he can't find the trike - any wheeled toy will do.....

The problem with a dump truck is that it can also dump the rider....

Monday 31st May.....

At swimming earlier in the day (pre the visit from Jaime and the boys) - Blake was having to stand on the edge of the pool and jump in after "5-4-3-2-1 Blastoff!"....

He wasn't waiting for the Blastoff.... he was just jumping as soon as I'd start to count down....

We'd had the same problem with Jade when she was learning to swim too.... So... I decided to tackle this outside of swimming lessons - that way - when we returned the following week (ie. yesterday) - we'd have it sorted and he'd look very clever! (that was the plan!)

So, I stood Blake up on his change table (which was a clever idea... he can't climb up there - so there was no risk of him climbing up there and trying it without supervision... see? I thought it through! honestly!)....

At first he was jumping as soon as I'd start the count down - but he got it after a couple of attempts and then he had it sorted....

In the meantime, Jade had heard what was going on and wanted to have a go too... so she'd climbed up on the toy box next to the change table.... she'd asked to have a go and thinking clearly (for that split second) - I'd made her wait until I'd finished with Blake..... (didn't want him jumping without someone to catch him)

After a few goes - I decided that it was time to let Jade have a go.... now, that clear thinking woman - must have gone to lunch.... because I'd left Blake on the change table.... counted down with Jade... got to Blastoff... she jumped and as I looked over - so did Blake....

So this poor kid did a belly flop right down to the floor.... luckily the floor is carpeted as well as having a thick rug on the floor... but it didn't stop him winding himself... as well as getting carpet burn on his nose.....

It didn't look so bad at first.... it was just a bit pink.... at this stage I was more worried about the possibility of him having a broken nose or getting a black eye.... or worse... both!

The following morning - his nose was a tad pinker... but still nothing too noticeable.... that was until I dropped him to daycare.....

This was what I picked up at the end of that day.... just over 24hrs later and his nose was a mess.....

(and he wasn't overly happy with the world - but he'd apparently been happy all day at daycare - I guess he was just a bit exhausted by 5pm.... he only wanted his Dad)

Luckily it was all healed and looking much better by Saturday... but he did look like a "typical boy" for the rest of the week....

(I guess at least this proves that I'm not biased in my blog entries... I'm not going to skip out on events to avoid pointing out that I too am flawed as a parent... no one is perfect... anyone who claims to be obviously isn't trying hard enough!)

Santa Kids

Monday 31st May...

While Declan was busy being all cute and dribbly.... Jade and Xander went exploring downstairs and found Rob's "Rocky Trials Club" Santa Suit.... then went in search of "presents" to give people.... and yes, those are MY Taz dolls.... and they were "giving" them to people! (it's ok though - I've still got them.... no one took ownership!)

Santa's always up for a cuddle.....

Monday 31st May....

Jaime came over after picking Xander up from school..... Declan was dribbling like a trouper... :) (yay teething!)

It's funny how time flies.... 5 months old already..... he'll be walking next......

Child's Play.....

Thursday - 27th May

Anyone who's spent anytime around our family would know that we play a bit rough... but not to hurt anyone... but just to have fun....

Jade plays with Blake this way too... it's really cute to watch... and even when she's rolling all over him - she never hurts him and he always comes back for more with a big grin on his face.... she is after all - his Idol.....
