Due to the trip to Sydney this week, we had decided that we could hold off giving Blake solids until we'd returned... he's only 5.5 months - so they can wait til they're 6 months...
Unfortunately, Blake doesn't agree with this... .everything anyone is trying to put in their mouth (including cups of coffee or tea) - he's trying to get his hands on...
So, we've decided to just let him have Farex for the week and we can start proper solids once we return on 22nd.....
Today was the first trial run.... (Jade tried Farex a couple of times and wasn't interested - but she started real solids at 5.5 months and never had any problems - and we didnt' just start with one vegie at a time... she copped mixed vege - mixed fruit and weetbix for breakfast....)
Anyway, so Mom gave Blake his first solids.... (I was there to take photos, it's only fair as I was able to give Jade her first farex)..
"Gimme, Gimme, Gimme!!!!"
"Mouth open, I'm ready - what's taking so long???"
(you can see that Mom had to hold his hand so that she could get the spoon into his mouth)
"Ergh! you can't be serious... this is YUCK!"
"Ahh well, beggars can't be choosers!"
"I'm saving this for later!"
"That darn facewasher took away my spare food!!! I'll just put some more back there.... Why is there no food on this spoon now???"
It's hard work having solids..... (In total he wouldn't have eaten more than 1-2 teaspoons of food... but it still made him happy)
We've been having a problem convincing Blake to sleep in his cot at lunch time, he's so used to sleeping on our bed on the pillow and with the doona - so I decided to pull out his special Thomas Doona and Pillow (Thanks Grandma!) and he snuggled up quite happily and slept for 4hrs (from 11am til 3pm)... I'm not happy to keep it in there overnight at this point - so he's back to basics for night time - but he sleeps well enough at night - so he'll survive!)
