Sunday 9th March
We headed out to Turkey Beach to go to the trials comp. The kids entered, but decided they just wanted to ride their bikes around... and given they're the only ones in their "grade" - it's not really a big deal... only costs $5.00 and they're allowed to ride all day.... so, I'm good with that...
When the comp first started, Blake came with me as I went to get pics of everyone riding and once we'd done a lap and got pics - we could go back to the parking area and the kids could ride their bikes until it was time to leave..
Again, because of Derby Training - I wasn't able to compete as I would finish too late and would have missed training....and we had our next home bout the following weekend, so it wasn't one that I would have been forgiven for missing.....
My little camera gear helper....
Dad checking out the section...
Eric Batty came a bit of a gutser in the section....
Frank's run through....
Mac
Pete Smith
Keagan Batty
Greg Paton
Peter McWilliams
Gotta love "Competition Face" :) that's concentration!
Mom cringed the entire time Dad was in this rocky section - especially as a few people had already come off....
and then Mac threw his bike down in Section 2
"nearly" lost it! :)
Gotta love when someone gives you "that" look for pointing the camera at them again!
Not supposed to throw dirt around Peter!
Mr Smarty-Pants
Then it was time for the kids to have a go.....
Blake put his bike down so that he could have a ride on Jade's bike....
Then he had to turn it off... and the key is on the inside of the frame.... so he had to look for it...
then it was time to take off on Jade's bike.....
So, Jade took Blake's bike..... oh - that was funny to watch... she's definitely bigger than she was at 2 when she got it.....
Standing up she doesn't look "as" big for it....
Blake ended up dropping Jade's bike... he wasn't upset - but wanted to get back onto his own bike....
Jade happily took her bike back....
Blake thought it was time to go home because I was starting to pack away other items so that we could escape when it WAS time to leave....
When he realised he was allowed to keep riding, he took off again in a hurry so that I didn't change my mind....
This sequence of pics shows how Blake crouches and stands as required to maintain balance... this isn't a skill we've taught him - he's worked this out for himself..... natural talent is an awesome quality... :)
