We bought a motorcycle trailer and we've got the caravan... so we're quickly running out of driveway to keep these all on and still get our cars on there.... I didn't want to have to put these into the back yard and lose yard space for the kids.... so we got talking and decided to look into cementing a slab on the other side of the house... we got our friend Pete to come around and let us know his thoughts on the earth works he'd need to do and talk about getting in a concretor.....
I never imagined it would be this big a job... but I'm definitely glad we did it.... we've created a massive area out the side of the house that fits both the caravan and the trailer as well as leaving a pile of space that would more than likely fit another 4 cars.... (not that I'm planning on parking 4 cars out there..... ) we had the entire area fenced (as we had to for part of it because of the drop caused by how much dirt had to be dug away to level the ground (as well as it being designed in such a way that it pulls water away from the house) we ended up with a 2-3ft retaining wall along the side and back of the yard....) with everything fenced in, we have privacy too - which is another major bonus......
It's made us re-think our house renovation plans as we had initially planned to build in the "Front" door and just continue to use the sliding doors at the actual front of the house....
The concreting also goes down the back of the house - so we had to re-cement the washing line area - so that's now perfect as well - no dirt at my feet when hanging washing etc....
Ahhh - it's all turned out so much better than I ever could have imagined.... so.. so... so happy with it!
