Wednesday 4th June
Blake's first Athletics Carnival - and Jade's first one that wasn't just a single race and a couple of ball games....
Because the athletics carnval goes all day at school - the kids are allowed to colour their hair and put zinc on etc.... they still have to wear their school sports top and their school shorts.... but... they get to go crazy above the shoulders :)

Jade running her 800m race.... she was doing really well.... and then her friend Jacinta got a stitch.. so Jade walked most of the race with her....

a bit of a jog for the third lap....
and then a sprint over the line at the end.....
After this race - I headed over to where the prep kids were for their races.....
(well - 2006 to 2009 kids)

Mom and Dad came up for the day so that they could watch the kids compete....
Jade doing long jump "like a kangaroo" she was told by the teacher.... she jumped with both feet.... it was funny to watch and she had fun....

She came 4th - so that wasn't bad....

And he came first!!!
(that was in his heat though - so that just put him through to the finals)
Jade came in 3rd in her heat for her 75m race....

Unfortunately the ladies doing the shot put did it wrong during the day - and only the top 5 from their first throws got to have a second throw - rather than giving everyone two throws.... though, they were finding it hard to get all the kids through - I guess they didn't expect all kids to compete in every event.... but they did....

Neither kid got any ribbons for the day - but they both had a blast and neither of them got upset with any of their efforts.... so.... that's a win :)
