Saturday 28th June
As soon as we got up in the morning, Blake was up, dressed and on his bike.... he wanted to get as much riding in as possible..... and he was determined to ride the new Oset.....
Mom and Dad setting the Mini-Bike sections....
Blake's aim for the weekend was to conquer this hill... he needed to be able to get up and down it to get to the sections and back down to the score tent.....
Going up wasn't an issue, but coming back down was a little daunting.... but after a few runs at it he was quite confident to continue without anyone standing around to catch him.....
The enjoyment of the hill was going through the creek at the bottom.....
It was a little slippery getting up out of the creek bed onto the grassy area...
And then the heavens opened up....
Dad and Mac enjoying the rain....
Time to put up the Marquee
Apparently Drew wants to become a stripper
Mac seems to think he has what it takes!
Oh yeah... that's the face that will bring in the money... right there!
Lisa Carpenter was amused.... :)
Lisa (Frank's Lisa) using insect repellant to remove permanent marker from the white board!
(smart one that one!)
We then spoke to Blake about taking his 16" Oset up the hill - as this was the bike we wanted him to use riding the competition as it's a much better size for him....
He was not very happy with us, this bike isn't as powerful as the 20" so he struggled to get it up the hill....
It also put him lower when going through the creek - so he was getting wet.... each time he'd come through the water he'd squish his face up....
Mom and Jade putting everyone's names onto the score board....
Lisa keeping an eye on things...
Brock and Lisa Carpenter
Blake decided he liked his 20" better, so he went back to get it....
Then he started standing while riding up the hill.....
and still squinting coming through the water!
He dropped it a few times... but that's all part of the game....
this kid has amazing technique....
Jade hanging out with Grandpa
Rob came down to watch Blake riding up and down the hill too....
And we're off again..... Cass came over to help Blake up....
and he's back on the bike.... and losing control again... :)
Rob went over to help....
Jade was refusing to cross the creek... we didn't know why... then she pointed out the cane toad.....
Drew removed it for her...
and threw it into the creek.... (per Jade's request)
Blake fell off going up the hill and fell down the one bank.....
Lisa went to rescue Blake and the bike took off with her and took her for a slide down the hill....
Didn't stop Blake from continuing to ride....
Tony Bax
Keegan Batty
I took Drew's bike for a spin.... While Drew was playing with my new camera.....
Blake making more splashes....
Rob & Jade
Blake enjoyed riding with Grandpa
he also enjoyed getting his bike muddy!
Dad trying to see if he can work out why my 315 isn't working....
It was then time to head off and ride the trials comp... we couldn't get my 315 going - so I took my 348 (luckily I'd asked Dad to bring it up with him)... Dad took Blake through the Mini-Bike sections and I scored on two sections (which involved a lot of running backwards and forwards to mark the riders cards) Once Dad had finished with the kids, he came and took over his section...... They rode two laps on Saturday....
Blake was worn out by the time we got back to the camping area.....
Jade was teaching Rob how to play strings....
Dinner Time....

Blake had dinner early - as I knew he wouldn't be interested in a roast dinner.... and we were all sitting around and realised that he was no where to be found.... he'd put himself to bed - fully dressed at around 6pm.... so I went in to check him - his temp was up to 37.5 - but we're not sure how much of that was related to the fact that he'd been running around in the sun in the afternoon.... I gave him some nurofen just to be safe and got him into his PJ's.....
The rest of us had a nice night around Drew's Brazier and once the smoke died down - we were able to cook some marshmallows (so Jade was happy!) Another late night around the fire.... to be followed by an early morning on Sunday!
