Wednesday 29th January
So, we started the Cogmed program... this was due to run for 5 weeks and 5 sessions per week... we were told it would take between 30 and 45mins to complete each day.. and two days per week they didn't have to do it - therefore, we could do it over the weekend as well....
We got through the first 7 lessons before the trainers phoned us from Brisbane to say that we should speed Jade up and not let her take so long...
I explained how we'd been trying to encourage Jade to go faster, but all it did was make everything worse....she'd just click anything to get it over with... and the meltdowns etc that we had to deal with were 100x worse on an "all-day" basis....
So we put the program on "hold" ... but I'm doubting that we'll go back and try it again... there's no point making Jade all anxious... so we'll find another way....
Since this, Jade has been put onto Ritalin... firstly on a short acting dose - now on a long acting dose and she seems to be doing ok.... because she lost weight from the first visit to the most recent one (which I still claim is from having been on Christmas Break and not having any sports to being back at school and at soccer - but the doctor doesn't believe that) - she's only on a low dose of the Ritalin... so we'll just see how that goes... her next appointment is in September....
