Rosedale Weekend - 20-22 March

Saturday 21st

We were up really early again... and thought that Drew was having a great sleep in - we'd been up for a couple of hours - had had breakfast and were sitting around having a coffee... figured we were being really loud and he would emerge wanting a coffee... next thing we know - he comes walking out of the bush... no idea what time he got up and headed off there, given that no one had seen him....

Then he says to the kids that he's organised an Easter hunt... so off we went.... to find his surprise for the kids... (knowing that I'm not a huge fan of them getting a pile of chocolate - he got them each a stuffed rabbit)

Jade spotted the first one... and off she ran....

Drew had built it a nest of woven sticks in the trees....

Then we continued on our search for Blake's bunny.....  again, Jade spotted it first!!

We tried making Blake look for it himself, but eventually Jade had to point it out for him....

It was up in a tipi that had also been woven by Drew.....

and on a bed of grass so that it was comfy!!!

Once we got back, the kids got their bike gear on and started hooning around on their new bikes.....

Yup, you can stand on these and pretend that they're trials bikes too :)

Jade was just happy to have a bike that she could start on her own... (the Gas Gas had given her grief)

Rob headed into Bundy for a water pump, ours wasn't working and we didn't want to get stinky....  Once he got back, we worked out that the problem with the pump - wasn't actually the pump - and something to do with Rob's power setup....  but, we now have a spare pump... so all is ok with the world.....

While he was gone, Drew decided to make Banana Scones.... so he got Jade to help him.....

Drew cut the bottom off a water bottle and made a perfect scone cutter :)

All done!

The bit of leftover batter made a perfect "stick scone" - which Jade was only too happy to test for us.....

Oh yeah, spoilt in the bush!

Jade decided to take Blake's bike for a spin while Drew was off testing her bike out.... she thought she was being so cheeky riding such a small bike :)

Drew may be a little oversized for Jade's bike... but it was funny :)

Jade looked just as oversized on Blake's one!

We then discovered that Blake's helmet had come apart a bit.... but... super glue fixes everything!!!!

Jade was definitely more comfortable on her own bike... :)

Sunday 22nd March

Drew and I went around the track in the bush to do some clearing so that the kids could ride around it....  it took longer than I thought it would take... once we got back from doing that - we got on our bikes and did about 20 laps around the circuit to mark the track properly....

Rob took the kids into the path and Jade turned around fairly quickly and went back to riding up and down the road... Blake followed Rob around the track... unfortunately there was one corner that was just a little too much for him and he came off... so that was the end of him wanting to try that circuit.... (since this time, Mom and Dad went into there and cut the log to open the corner.....)

Sausages for lunch.....

And a nice refreshing drink....

Mom and Dad had been out in the week prior and started to clear the massive log pile and put it into a neat log pile with no rocks or sand in it....

(the log pile was caused by the people who cleared the site... all of the broken timber got pushed into the one pile - so complete with dirt etc... the old owner had obviously tried to burn it at least once - as there was burnt timber in the pile.... but due to the dirt/sand - it hadn't burnt through - luckily... or it would have been harder to clear up I think!)

While we were having lunch, a goanna came up to check out the situation.. so we gave it some meat.... it was very happy to hang around and eat whatever was sent in it's direction.....

It got really close to Blake - and even came up to test his foot to see if it was meat that it would like.... but we ended up shooing it away so that it didn't try to clamp onto his little feet....

This was the end of our weekend... we were all exhausted and ready to head home....
