Renovation time again......

We had a long weekend at home... we had planned on going down to the BlockSpot for the weekend but decided that staying home and getting things done was a better idea, given that we had three days...

Saturday 6th June

First job - clear out the lounge area because my desk had to be moved from the bedroom out here until we're ready to move it back....

Luckily everything can just be moved around to suit us (the flooring is great for this).

This actually made the couch look more comfy.... unfortunately it limits the amount of people you can have on it! :)

At first we cleared this area for the desk to go.... but we  underestimated the size of the desk..... and had to do a re-shuffle....

Gradually moving things out.... we moved the bedside drawers out (this is what our printer has sat on for the last few years) and we gave that to Jade to keep her undies and socks in....

Next, I cleared out all of the work folders and paperwork...

and the shelving comes down......

Desk is gone....

area clear.....
(leaving the blanket up on the wall as it blocks light from our room from going into Jade's room (and at this point her bed was near this doorway - so light shining into her face at night if we had our bedroom light on...)

We ended up sticking the desk in this corner - which means that our dining table is now up against the kitchen bench....  although, with just the four of us, this works out ok....

in clearing out the walk in wardrobe - I found this.... it's the side of a computer that we'd obviously used as a Home Theatre PC in our bedroom at some point in the last 11yrs.... (and it would have been an old and busted computer at THAT time... we've never used a good computer to play TV in the bedroom)

and the shelving is coming out.....

As are the outside walls....

Ergh!! Green paint!!!  (there is so much green paint - I really dread to think what this house looked like in years gone by!)

As we were pulling the shelves out etc, we were throwing them off the kitchen landing to the ground... then they could be piled into the Vito once we were done, to be taken to the tip.....

Rob hard at work....
(he loves destroying things!  I finally found a good use for that skill!)

Blake wanted to know if he could help us....

he's a great little helper...

Gradually getting there....

We lifted the carpet to have a look at what we were dealing with in the way of chipboard flooring.. and found that it was severely water damaged....
(we were wanting to see how far the chipboard went before we hit the decent flooring....)

Side wall is out......

Unfortunately the beam that goes the entire length of our house stops at the start of the walk in wardrobe.... so we're having to leave this wall in place....  the plan now is to build this wall in (ie. remove the swinging door and board it all up nicely....) - which will give us an "office" that is slightly concealed from the rest of the room (and will allow us to keep windows open etc without fear of paperwork flying everywhere....)
