Friday 6th March
Another big weekend at the property.... lots of plans all going ahead... but worth it.....
Rob, the kids and I headed down after school on Friday and did our family movie night down there...
This was the first time we'd set up the projector in the shed, it was awesome.... though, some re-arranging of furniture probably needs to happen so that we're not watching it on an angle....
Jade happily watched from the top bunk....
well, for a bit... then she moved to the table with Rob......
Blake sat with me on the bed, I'm sure our eyes were a bit worn out by the end....
Saturday 7th March
We got up early (because that's what bush kids do, there is no sleeping in.... as the world starts to get light around 4am, that's when kids start to wake up....
I had a pile of shredding from work to burn.... so we got the fire going....
The kids thought this was a great idea :)
Before anyone else had arrived, Rob and I had dug the hole for the long-drop.... that was an interesting experience... it's probably 5ft deep... so it should be deep enough for our occassional visits.... (we didn't dig it with the shovel... that's in there for depth reference....)
Jade helped Rob solder up cables for the addition of three new batteries... this would keep us going for a weekend at the property without having to worry about running a generator.... I love solar power! (well, now... now that it's set up!)
Mom, Frank and I took the whipper snippers down to the front of the property - and cleared around the entrance......
We left Drew & Dad to pave the toilet area....
I had assumed that this kind of hole would have been sufficient for the pavers.... it's going to be covered by a toilet anyway.....
As you can see, Drew cut the pavers to open up the hole completely.... just in case! ;)
(when we first did this, we put pics up on Facebook saying that we'd installed the squat toilet... I think some people thought we were serious.... hehe)
We left Drew to design and implement that toilet manufacture.....
I had a brilliant plan, to use a garbage bin to provide a "wall" to the long drop.... I'm SO SMART!!!! :) and it worked well.... Also, the bit that was cut off the bottom of the bin made an awesome water bowl for Betty... so she appreciated it too!
A hover-toilet!
It's a bit hot working on the top of the shed.... unfortunately, some one didn't think about the fact that it's the sun that makes the heat... so he was a bit uncomfortable the following night with a lovely red back!
Putting together the second shed......
Betty thought that Frank's hammock tent was a great shade for her....
It's a hard life!
Levelling the ground ready to tile up to put the shower shed in place.....
Complete toilet!!!!!! So much better than setting up the other toilet each weekend......
Jade was the first to test it out......
apparently we weren't allowed to take a photo of her actually using it ;)
Blake was next.... ;)
Tiles going down..... so high tech ;)
The second shed going into place....
Can no one go to the toilet without an audience???
Hot water installed.....
Show all set up - with a shower curtain so that your clean clothes don't get wet while you're showering....
And towel hooks.... oh yeah, this joint is classy!!!
MLP showing at the BlockSpot theatre tonight!
Though, hanging out at the hammock is awesome too!
more shredding for the fire....
Sunday 8th March
The kids spent the day on their bikes..... then it was time to break the bad news to them that we had to pack up and head home.... we got some very serious sulky faces....
It was a hot weekend.....
apparently, we're staying in our gear... just in case they change their minds!
We headed to the Tiny Teahouse for lunch on our way out...... The kids refused to remove their boots... (There's still a chance that those bikes would come out again and they had to be ready!)
Before the weekend, I'd said to Rob that he should check his tyre because it looked flat.... he disagreed and said that it was fine..... by the end of the weekend, he was agreeing with me!
luckily we hadn't left Rosedale - so I could run back to the property and get our little air compressor to pump his tyre up again.... then I suggested just putting on the spare.. *gasp* - so he did that! (he's lucky he's got me!)
