Rescue Kitties.....

Friday 4th July

We went out to check out the cats held by the RSPCA at 11am... it took the kids until nearly 1pm to decide on the cats they wanted to take home...  (and they were the cats that we'd found the day before on "adoptapet.com.au") - but at least we knew after checking out all of the cats - that these were the right ones to choose...

The kittens were part of a litter where the mother cat had given birth to them and then they'd fallen into a wall (from the ceiling where they were born) - fire fighters rescued them from the wall....

Jaguar (or Jag as he's now known) has a rib deformity - they're not sure if it's a birth defect, or whether it happened in the fall...he's been checked by the vets that the RSPCA carers use and has been given clearance that it's not an issue - though, when we take him in for his first visit we are going to confirm with them whether it is/isn't causing him discomfort as he does seem to react to it when you pick him up... (though, we now know to be careful of that part of his lower side when picking him up - so we're not having any issues with it).

They're 7 months old and have been with the carer since they were rescued....    they were nervous to come home and took a bit of convincing for them to get out of the travel cage...

Jag came out first....

Jordan (now Jordy) did not want to leave the cage.....

once we finally got him out... he went into the cat climber and stayed in there hiding from everyone....

Jag came straight in to my desk and has been in our faces ever since!

That afternoon I got Rob to head to the pet store and get them collars - so that we could tell them apart without having to feel for Jag's dodgy rib.....   Jag now wears a red collar and Jordy wears a blue one....
(Though, Rob refers to them as "Red" and "Blue" now... but he'll learn... he's the hardest to teach)

It didn't take them long to get comfy on our bed......  it's cold and they're coming for the warm blanket...

Then they decided to help with the laundry....

The unfortunate thing about kittens is that they believe that 2am is the perfect time to play.... they go barrelling up the hallway, but due to not having carpet - they slide around corners and often slide into the walls.... this hasn't slowed them down at all.... just seems to make them faster.....   they're crazy.... but they're happy..... (and Nikki has settled to the idea of having two boys around and has been caught cleaning them and letting them push up against her.... so it's all positive!)
