Last night the kids and I headed to Bundaberg in preparation of our little family getaway to Elliot Heads for a few nights in the first week of the school holidays...... Plans were that we would all head down... but unfortunately SheBe isn't too well and she's in at the vets for the last two nights - and Rob's got work issues keeping him at home too.... so - just the kids and I at this point....
Mom and I went shopping for a few things today - food and trying to find the kids some warm jumpers... apparently Gladstone isn't considered a "cold climate" - so you only get thin jumpers there.... which isn't great when you want to travel out of town to somewhere, where it's a bit cooler.... so we managed to find a few jumpers for the kids and got them some new jeans etc.. (apparently they've grown a little since last winter - how horrible is that???)
Anyway, so at 2pm we got the kids into riding gear and they headed off in the sidecar while Mom and I drove to the caravan park to check in and start unloading.....
We put Blake into Jade's jacket... yup... too big for him....
The helmet is the correct size - he's just so tiny that anything looks big on his head....
Jade was wearing Mom's jacket - and not very happy about it - as her jacket still fits her... we just figured that Mom's jacket would be way too big for Blake - so everyone could wear a big one... apparently Jade did not agree with us! (next time - we'll just put Blake in the oversized jacket - cause he wouldn't complain about it!)
Cranky pants wouldn't even look at the camera!
Mom and Dad stayed for a cuppa - then they had to head home.......
Jade was happy - cause then it meant that we could all play The Game of Life....
She wasn't as thrilled with me making her play by the actual rules, rather than her rules....the game wasn't as quick when you had to do things right ;)
The view from our cabin
We're going to go exploring up this path tomorrow.... a lot of people were going for bike rides and walks along here.... so it may lead somewhere nice.....
This path leads down to the playground where we went later in the evening.....
the kids went to play with the new flashing balls while I cooked dinner.....
Dinner Time...
Jade came in, looking most impressed with her new physique......
Two balls down her top...
Boy am I not ready for her to have REAL ones!
After dinner the kids grabbed their scooters and we headed down to the park....
We'd taken the flashing balls down there.....
They were great to play soccer with... unfortunately, when they stopped flashing they were hard to find in the dark.....
Swing Time!
We then headed back to the Cabin as Mom and Dad were on their way over with a heater for us....
(Oh, did I mention that the cabin we're staying in doesn't have aircon or a heater or a bed that you can't feel the springs in the mattress.... or an oven... though it does have a stove and the kids are having a great time so far - and at the end of the day - we can live without the rest!)
The kids then showered and got into their PJ's and into their bed....
Oh yeah, no bunk beds either.... they're sleeping on a sofa bed......
So far so good... the kids went to bed around 8pm after whinging that they weren't tired.... I'm sure they'll be up at sparrows in the morning and ready to take on the world!
Bed time for me!
