18-22 July
So, for those who haven't picked it up from all other posts... Jade and Blake play amazingly well together... they do EVERYTHING together.. .and at times Jade gets frustrated that Blake doesn't understand things the way she does - but - she's about 95% good with everything with him....
But, in doing so - she's still "the boss" - which means - they've always played in HER room... she instructs Blake which toys to bring in and off they go into their many various wonderlands....
When Jade was moved into her room, it was due to the fact that the other room was the "Nursery" and it has a door that leads into our room... which meant that dealing with the newborn was much easier as we could keep the door open and hear any sounds that were coming from there (mind you, I think these days I can hear a pin drop out on the front driveway.. which does make sleeping very difficult as I do not believe I have slept straight through on a night since Blake was born....(Jade was a different story - because she slept through from the first night home))
But, back to the reason for this entry....
Jade's room was too small to contain both kids toy collections.... and, now that we're 500% certain that we are not having any more children it was also safe to do a major toy dump of all the toys that the kids had grown out of.....
Step One - Sort Blake's Room
Blake's room needed to be sorted, cleaned and emptied first... this would then leave room to move Jade's bed into it so that I could start working on clearing Jade's room.....
The biggest task with Blake's room was to split his toys into their many various categories - Ninja Turtles, Mario, Handy Manny (which was put aside for a friend who has twin boys who are right into all of that at this time), Dinosaurs (though - I believe most of these had been stolen from Jade's collection over the years), Cars and Super Heroes (as well as other groups - but these were the main ones)
18th July
This toy sorting adventure took up the entire lounge room and I was having to try to do it while the kids were busy elsewhere..... this took me an entire afternoon/evening....
19th July
Blake's room is now empty - so I can move Jade's bed in..... (and people wonder what I do with the hour and a half I get between finishing work and picking the kids up from school!)
The kids shared the one room for the weekend, so that I was free to mess up the rest of the house!
Then I had to look at what I had left to deal with.... this did not make me feel fantastic!
21st July
Now the the shock of my challenge had settled down a little, it was time to start moving Jade's things out of her room....
22nd July
But eventually her room was empty....
all of her clothes were moved out....
And then I remembered the hole in the wall....
But that can be fixed by a cleverly placed toy shelving system ;)
It didn't really matter that Blake didn't have a huge room, because he wasn't going to play in there as much as he would in Jade's room....
Jade liked having her bed in the back section of the room....
Clothes all sorted - and toys stacked away in the cupboard.....
Jade was very excited to get home from school and find her room looked like a room....
Even the bedroom doors were stripped.... didn't want people getting confused as to where to go!
