My Big Preppie!

Monday 24th January

Time flies.....  I can still remember all the "fun" we went through to have Jade in the first place, 3 days in hospital before she finally came into the world....  but she came, and definitely made an impact.... and now she's off to Prep....   

This is a child I have had to detach every morning at daycare for the past year at least, so this did not make me feel great about having to leave her at school....

The dress 

(I'd hoped I could get her into the shorts and shirt first just to get a pic and then let her put the dress on afterwards so that I could have pics of both, but she wouldn't hear of that....  my concerns about how the morning was going to pan out were not easing at this point!)

Apparently the most exciting thing of getting dressed in the morning was putting on the school shoes....

(anyone who's spent time with Jade over the years would know that she's allergic to wearing shoes... shoes have NEVER stayed on long since she was first able to walk....  this was a concern for school that she'd want to take them off as soon as she got to school)

Everyone does this, so I did too....

(There is a photo floating around at Mom and Dad's place of Frank and I like this... except I look like I actually liked him back then, Blake and Jade who play together so nicely look like they've been forced into place, and I guess in all fairness - it was a "staged" photo)

Still looking staged, but they do love each other to bits!

I think Blake's bored with it all at this stage... or maybe he's upset about the height difference... hehe

Heading up to School!

We met up with Damian, Jaime, Xander & Declan to walk up to the classrooms.....  Due to trying to get parking at the school, we had to arrive at 8am... well, just after 8am as it turns out it takes a bit of convincing to get both kids into the car at a "set" time....

In the classroom!

First day is when you deliver the millions of books and supplies for the year, so Jade's bag weighed a tonne (and that wasn't nearly as much as they need for Grade 1 or onwards!)

While I put all of Jade's books and pencils etc where they needed to be, Jade explored the room... keeping an eye on Blake (apparently) - once I'd finished I found Jade, no Blake.....

Me: Where's Blake?

Jade: I thought you had him!

(it starts!)

Each kid had at least one parent with them (and a fair chunk of them with older and even younger siblings).... so there was a room full of people...  Naturally, I started to freak...

Blake had got out of the room and was on the balcony, you could see the panic in his face.  He'd gone outside looking for me....  poor little guy.....  He was fine once he found me....

The Best Friend EVAH!

Jade's known Johnica since Daycare.... and being in the same prep class together has just made their year!

Jade came home from school saying that Johnica is her BEST FRIEND EVAH! (such a cute age!)

When the school bell rang, it was time to leave Jade to it.... luckily she had to help Johnica put all of her stuff away as she arrived a bit later, so we didn't have any tears....

All in all, a good first day at school.... here's hoping she continues to enjoy school...
