So, Gran turned 90 on 8th February.... we managed to get nearly the entire family to Bundaberg (even with all the flooding - and the fact that Bundaberg flooded really really badly (luckily Mom and Dad's place managed to stay just above the water, but the rest of their street had water issues I believe.... it got to about a metre from the house - and their shed was in the water....)
Anyway, we managed to get everyone organised to come to Bundaberg for the night and arranged for us all to go out for dinner at the local Tavern....
But, the fun was trying to arrange a present for Gran... there was nothing I could think of that she wanted/needed - so I figured a photo album with all of her kids and their kids and their kids (oh yeah... kids - grandkids - great grandkids may have made more sense to say) would be something she could open up and look through whenever she wanted to......
So the next fun thing with this was trying to get photos out of everyone.... I managed to get the last of the photos by 5th February... (no, not pushing it at ALL!!!!) - - -but the biggest problem with all of that was when I started out, I had no idea what I wanted to do... as people were sending photos - I developed an idea in my head - and then had to re-request pics from various family members because my ideas had all changed...... but, I must say - as much as it was a headache... it was completely worth it.....
The Planning...
So, Gran had 5 kids... in order of age... there was Dad, Uncle Gerry, Uncle David, Uncle Barry & Aunty Pam......
So, the theory that I went with was that each family (ie. each of Gran's kids) would have a section.... So, page of their child with their wife/husband - then on the opposite page would be a pic of them with their kids from a goup of photos that Grandpa took at Mom's 40th and Uncle Andy's 30th Birthday - which was the first time the entire family had been together - and then a photo of their family now....
Then a page for each of the Grandkids with their partners and kids (for those who have them)
So, this page shows basically how I was working out the photos for each page.... and scribbling them out when different layouts were going to work better etc.... and then each photo slot was numbered...... on each page I worked out what size photos would work so that I wasn't having to go back to get photos re-printed in a better size...
This page took all of the number slots and allocated photos to them.... I was then able to work out what how many of each size of photo I had - so that when I was going through the photo printing process I knew I had all photos.. (again, to save on having to return to the photo shop to get more pics done as I was quickly running out of time)
Here are all of the photos to go into the album....
