Flying home........

Wednesday 30th January

Ok, so this is now day 2 that Jade is missing from school - and still no "real" idea about when roads were opening up.... we decided late the night before that we just couldn't risk it - so we booked flights for me and the kids to fly home and Rob would then take whatever route necessary to get home when he could..... 

We got up early and Rob dropped us at the airport and then we killed time until the flight......

The kids were brilliant - having been stuck and then having to just sit around in the airport - I really wasn't sure how they were going to be... but I couldn't have wished for better....

We landed in Gladstone just before 1pm and Drew picked us up and took us home..... we sent the kids upstairs to play and Drew and I took to downstairs with buckets and emptied as much as we could of the water out of the house...  when we got home - we stepped into probably 2" of water... it was a helluva task to clear all of the water out... the downstairs lounge -  and both guest rooms were completely flooded.... but not deep enough to ruin everything that we had down there, so that was a bonus....

We managed to get everything cleaned up just before Rob arrived home at 6pm..... (only 7hrs after he'd left us at the airport - and he'd had a straight run though with no major hold-ups.....)
