We headed to Conondale again this year.. (we only missed 2008 - and only because Blake was being delivered the day after and we thought that may have been pushing it!)
Anyway, we made it again this year... I wasn't competing - but Rob was.... I had everything packed the day before... all that needed to go down to the car on the Friday was a bit of bedding - and a few other things...
Rob had the morning off work, so he was going to get all of that ready so that after work - I just got home - picked Rob up - filled up the car - and collected the kids and we'd go... figured we'd leave Gladstone by about 1:30....
Unfortunately, plans never work the way they should.... so of course, Rob was busy working all morning - just from home....so, when I got home from work - I packed everything ... we eventually left town at 2:30.....
By the time we got to Conondale - Jade was asleep... it was about 8pm.... Blake on the other hand was hyper.... thanks Twisties!!! which wasn't too bad - just had to keep him occupied while we set up the caravan and made up the beds..... Blake went to sleep fairly easily... we waited for Jade to wake to see if we could get some dinner into her (as she hadn't eaten all afternoon apart from Twisties... but she wasn't hungry...)
Jade was in bed and asleep around 9pm...
Saturday:
We woke at about 4:30am to cows making their presence known...of course that woke everyone.... including Jade & Blake who really could have done with a sleep in...
There they are!!!
(incase we hadn't seen them, Jade was willing to point cows out to us!)
They didn't come as close this year.... I think there were a few extra cars this year for the Friday night camping....
Going to check out the cows....
Bulls fighting...
"Oooh - Blake's coming over!"
you can see the lack of sleep in his eyes....
Cranky Bulls...
I bought the kids a bowling set... only 6 pins and two balls..... very cheap - as a way to entertain them for a bit.... they played with them for all of about 20 mins - and then the thrill was over...
Blake worked out that kicking them was far more effective
All pins are down.... score!!!!
Jade got the hang of it, but without Blake caring.... she lost interest....
Blake found his strider bike
Dad wanted photographic evidence that he did in fact let down Rob's tyres and check the pressures for him.....
Blake decided that the car needed to be hooked back up to the caravan and was determined to work out how to do this...
Meanwhile, Jade played happily in the caravan....
Tool box on the caravan, surely there's something to get it all hooked up again....
This is what happens when you leave Jade's hair down for the day, per her request.... little miss fluffy hair....
Ready to go for a ride....
Jade was a bit nervous riding her bike on an uneven surface... but picked it up reasonably quickly... when she was trying to prove how horrible it was....
Blake was willing to follow Jade wherever she went...
Ooooh Pooooo!!!
(Fascinating when you're not quite 2!)
The roads turned out to be much friendlier to a new cyclist....
Time for colouring in....
Puggle.....
Dad got sick at the end of the Saturday (to the point of not thinking he'd be able to ride the trials comp the next day) We ended up spending the evening having our dinner back at the caravan instead of up at the big tent with everyone else, but it was nice... and worked well with the fact that I'd put Blake to bed... he had a huge sleep in the afternoon - nearly 4hrs.... but was still really tired by 6pm when he went down....
