Trials weekend day 2

We got out to the trials site at 8:30am... both kids slept on the way there - but were both awake by the time we arrived.... yay for dirt bumpy roads..... Unfortunately i'd been up quite a bit during the night with Blake - so I wasn't alert enough to get on my bike and compete.. even though i was dressed for the occassion....

Ready to take off....

Poor Blake... the teething is really knocking him around....

I'd been talking to Jo during the week about their camping last weekend, she'd told me about the "ergo baby" that she uses to carry Amelia around in and how she sleeps in it....

I went to the local baby shop hoping that they'd have something similar... unfortunately they didn't... but they did have the above carrier.... it's great - and Blake loves it..

Greg got a 5.... yay for stalling the bike!

nice rocky section....

and Greg again.. this time riding my bike as his is still running a bit ritch - and mine was just gathering dust up by the cars...

we'd been watching the trials for about an hour and a half and we were just heading back to the site when we realised that Blake was asleep.....

He was definitely comfy in there..

we got back to the camp site and transferred Blake from the carrier back into the kinderkot....

and Jade was straight into the Yoghurt :)

Rob won C Grade.... Greg DNF'd (with only 4 sections to go... slacker!)

Been a long day here today... everyone is tired... Blake's still having a problem with his teeth - so he's really not 100% today.. Anyway, signing off... night night....

Trials weekend day 1

This weekend we had planned to go to Deep Creek to camp for the weekend as there was a trials competition today...   Unfortunately Jade and Blake were both coughing during the night on Friday...  when Jade woke she was feeling ok - but I didn't figure it was worth the risk of making either of them worse... so it was decided that I'd bring the kids home in the evening and get them to bed here where there was some chance at controlling the temps in their rooms...

I found these QLD supporter Jumpers at Best'N'Less on Friday... they're so cute.. I couldn't resist...

Our bikes, ready to be ridden.....  this was to be my first trials competition in nearly 2 years...

Caravan all set up....

We decided to take the Kinderkot instead of the port-a-cot this weekend as it takes up a little less room (although - after having put it up - we realised that it is still rather big....)  I just like it better for out bush because it's completely screened in - so no bities getting in and doing their thing...

I got Blake playing in it for a while first... this way if I put him in it while he was asleep he didn't wake up scared about where he was as this was the first time he'd use it...  (we'd originally bought this for Jade years ago)

he thought it was great....

Unfortunately it turns out that because the caravan was in the direct sun, it turned into a little sauna - so we had to take Blake out.... not that he minded getting to socialise again....

Jade plays so nicely with Blake....

Blake keeping warm in Uncle Frank's Montesa Jacket....

Jade then had to try it on...

Did I mention that Greg was coming out for the weekend too?  been a while since he's come to trials... been pre-occupied with being a teenager and having a girlfriend!

Oh, and Abby Cadabby Came too....
(everyone came!!)

After a while, we took off on the bikes for a bit...

Greg practising balancing....

We moved the Kinderkot to the back of the Prado..  Mom got Blake to sleep and then I transferred him into the kinderkot and closed the screens... he had a good sleep there...

The Fire was lit so that dinner could be cooked....

Blake was intrigued by the fire....

Don't get the bikes too close....

Jade found some logs to practice walking along balancing....

"Ta-Dah!!"

The boyz watching the fire...

I left with the kids before dinner time (we hadn't taken out enough meat for us to stay for dinner as I wasn't even sure how long we would have stayed during the day - I definitely didn't think we'd still be there once Mom was getting dinner ready....) - - Got Blake Fed, then bath time for the kids... then Jade helped me cook her scrambled eggs for dinner... then reasonably early night for the kids.....

Blake got his second tooth.....

Blake cut his second tooth this morning....  after a quick screaming match.. his poor little gums are so swollen... hopefully they'll settle down now and give him a bit of a break....

Jade's Verandah.....

((Video))

Jade has taken up residence on the verandah.... her toys are out there and she happily plays there from the time we get home from school....  I'd put a few of her toys into the toy box out there - but hadn't really said anything about it...

Monday afternoon I'd gone outside and found that she had taken the Elmo playhouse out of the box and set it up... she's never set it up herself before... not that it's a huge challenge... but for a 3yr old - working out how to pull the sides out so that the house pops up properly is a slightly more complex task...  I think more because it requires a bit of muscle... but Jade's got plenty of that!

Anyway, she's happy out there.. so mission accomplished with the shading in of the verandah.... (The cats love it out there too....  it's nice and warm without the breeze being as strong as it was before....)

Blake's first tooth.....

Blake finally got his first tooth... bottom left hand side... 8th June between 11am and 11:30am... I know this sounds a bit weird to know the actual time... but I found it at 11:30am and before heading to Mom and Dad's place at 11am I'd checked to see if he had his tooth...

We had a REALLY bad night with Blake on Sunday night - he was up a few times during the night - which was really unusual as he's been sleeping better at night....  so I had a feeling something was finally going to happen... and huzzah.. TOOTH... :)

We've had restless nights since - but the right tooth on the bottom looks like it's about to bust through too.. so here's hoping...

Blake Crawling - Caterpillar Style....

((Video))

Blake has a crawling style all of his own... I've seen many kids comando like Jade did.. but I'd never seen this before Blake came along (don't get me wrong - I'm sure he's not the only baby to do it... but I haven't seen any others yet.....)

He really knows how to get around.. he can get anywhere he wants to be now without getting too upset about it... although - you'll hear in the vid that he "screeches" - but it's not a cranky noise... even though it does sound like he's getting frustrated...

(Video was taken 7th June - - - - I'm kind of a bit behind in my blogging!)

Blake's Trike.....

I really want to get Jade riding her bicycle again.... she was doing really well - nearly didn't need assistance to ride without training wheels... then after Blake came along it all went backwards... we now have training wheels back on her bike to try to get her interested in actually pedalling for herself as she came to the conclusion that we were there to push her around.....

So I'd been thinking of a way to get her interested in riding again... but pushing Blake in his pram and getting Jade to ride wasn't going to do it... she's not easily coerced into these things...

So, we got Blake a bike of his own... this way I can push him around and she'll hopefully want to ride her bike again...

The trike is a 3 stage one, he's currently in a sling type seat that stops him falling down the front... and once his feet can reach the footrests he'll be a bit more comfortable....

Once he's big enough, we take the sling out and he can sit on the seat but with the bars around his waist to stop him falling off the sides.... once he's big enough we can take the bars out and he can just sit on the seat... by which stage he should be able to reach the pedals on the front wheel....

He'll use this bike until he's big enough to get onto Jade's first bicycle which was a red two wheeler with training wheels and a push handle....

"Look, I can play with my Lizard and still ride.... Yay me!!!"

"Look Dad, I can wheelie NO HANDS!!! - Beat that!!!"

Then it was home for bath time.... looks like the sandies were out in force.... (only two dots left this morning....)
