Bookweek.... I cringe sometimes when I realise it's coming up... but... in all honesty - I love making the costumes... so far I haven't done the "here, just wear one of your dress-up outfits" as much as the kids would have been happy enough with those....
This year, Jade's going as Cat in the Hat... and Blake's going as Peter Pan (though, we did think about recycling Jade's Robin Hood costume, it would have taken the fun out of creating).

The gloves were interesting....
and DONE.....
Blake's Peter pan costume was a lot easier... we found a hat that didn't quite fit him - so I cut it down the back and added some elastic so that it would stay on.... then I cut up some track pants and a t-shirt... made a belt out of black material and made a knife holder to attach to the belt to put the knife in.....
We then decided that as Peter Pan - he needed a tinkerbell... luckily Jade had a small one - so we stiched her into a sitting position in the hat....
Blake loved playing with his retractable knife.... I had attempted to make a cardboard one - but figured that a retractable one would be much safer for school!
