After a bit of a shock at the school athletics carnival earlier in the week, Rob and I started looking into getting a new lens to get pics from a bigger distance.... my little happy-snappy lens has always been good - but generally it's because I'm running around after the kids and shoving it in their face to take the pic....
We eventually settled on this Sigma 150-500mm lens (we had looked at a 50-500mm - but it didn't happen, and was a slower lens than the 150... so, it is already quite zoomed when you start to use it - in comparison to what i'm used to....)
I'd said to Jaime on Friday that I wanted to come and take pics at Xander's soccer match on Saturday morning to simply test the lens out..... Rob grabbed me one of our tripod's - which was a saviour - the lens weighs a tonne (well 2kgs... but it's heavy after a bit of time)
The three kids following are Xander & Bailey that everyone knows.... and then there's Keanu... he's an absolute character....
Keanu
Xander attempting to kick the ball, but it ended up copping Keanu in the chest/stomach....
Bailey defending....
(the girl shooting (ie. the pink boot you can see) was their big goal scorer... so he wasn't going to let her get anymore)
Xander had gone into the goal to grab the ball out of it - and smacked his head on the way out.... :)
Bailey after scoring his first goal...
Xander in his "c'mon - what kinda call is that Ref???" pose....
(they don't have refs at this age.... I have no idea what he was actually doing - but it seems fitting!)
Bailey's second goal....
Keanu scores....
he's got the victory dance sorted...
The other team scored, Keanu wasn't happy about it!
this pic was just a "right place right time" lucky shot!...
