Rained in.... Still......

Monday 28th January

So, now we're starting to worry a bit.... it's still raining, the road outside the resort is a river that cars were still quite happily driving through creating waves as they went.....

Smack had to check out and get back to Sydney (oh yeah, roads were clear to the south.... but everything from South Gympie to the North was flooded out....)

Luckily Kris and Kristel were able to move into the room that Smack had been using and the hotel owners charged them per a long-term booking price - which saved them about $50 for the night.... so that was at least a part relief.....

Jade was due to go back to school on the Tuesday - which didn't upset her too much....

Sunday 27th January

So, the rain has started....  we're stuck at the resort... we were supposed to be leaving on the Monday and from all reports from up north - everything was flooded and blocked off....

Kris and Kristel and their kids were stuck with us too.. but it was summer and the pool was heated....  and, lets face it... you're going to get wet in the pool anyway - so, no real change... :)

I'm just glad there was a decent pool there and that we hadn't booked into this place for some spectacular playground - cause that would have been really disappointing.....

Australia Day Bout......

Saturday 26th January

Australia Day, with a difference.... last year was derby peeps and a BBQ and a little skating... this year was derby peeps.... a little BBQ and a lot of skating....  two bouts..  Blokes -vs- Sheilas and then Green -vs- Gold... it was so much fun.....

The kids were happy to just amuse themselves.....

Everyone warming up on the track...  OMG this was slippery... I have never skated on something THIS slippery before... unless you count ice.. but with ice - you have blades and a chance of digging in... with this... no hope.....   

The first bout was Blokes -vs- Sheilas....  it was fun.. the guys were great fun to come up against on the track... and you could really put a hit on them :)

Jamming against RPG and it was a race back to the pack.....

this was the highlight of my weekend.... hitting G-Man :)

This bout was co-ed - 50/50 guy/girl teams :)

I copped an elbow to the face by Akubra Mattata (who was on my team - just lost his footing on the track and arms were flailing....)

At Noosa

Friday 25th January

So, we got to Noosa on the Friday.... we got there a little early to check in - so we went and checked out the town a little and then came back - got into our room and got comfy.......  

you present someone with an apartment and a locked door that you can see steps behind... of course - they're going to do their best to unlock the door....

BOOM!!!

(and lets be clear.... Rob did the unlocking... such a bad bad boy!)

Nothing exciting up there... and we had to keep the door closed to stop the kids from going up to explore - in fear of them falling down.... 

Smack and I went out for dinner..... This restaurant looked nice!  Named well, anyway!

When we got back from dinner, Bek & Carmen had arrived to visit....

  

We had a great night of catching up with everyone...

Wednesday 23rd January

We were on our way down to Noosa for the weekend.....   going via Bundaberg to visit Dad who, less than a week earlier, had fallen off his trials bike and broke his OTHER hip... yup, that's right... this is the second hip he's broken riding trials.....  (and it's such a safe sport..... go figure) - - it was just an unfortunate landing having major major results.....

Anyway, so we stopped in to visit him in hospital....

There was a huge fishtank full of silver sharks - so Jade was extremely happy....

After we left the hospital - we headed to Mom and Dad's place to crash the night before continuing on our journey...
