Turkey Beach Trial - Day 2

Sunday 7th August

We got up at 6am... and Jade got dressed straight away (which is really unusual for her... she's generally quite happy to bum around in her PJ's in the caravan....) but she got her clothes on and her gear on...  as soon as I stepped out of the caravan she came bouncing out to ask if she could go off and ride her bike....  

Normally this would be a no.... but, her bike makes no noise - so she wasn't going to be bugging anyone else with it... so we let her go....

Rob getting the fire started again so that he could cook bacon for him and Jade...

After breakfast it was time to start looking at setting Jade some sections to ride... as she's only "Intro Mini" at this stage - she doesn't ride the big sections.... once she's got some confidence and is able to ride through a rocky creek bed - then she can move up to Intro - which is a case of ride into the section and ride out of the section in the easiest way possible.. at this point - there are a few logs in intro that would stop her from being able to compete in that division...

The sections for Jade were just putting in a couple of tight'ish turns - this teaches her throttle/speed control

Jade then had to put her bike through scrutineering and then leave it with everyone else's bikes until the trial was ready to start....   we explained to Jade that she'd have to wait until the lunch break before she could ride her sections so that someone could watch her ride as I have to be down in the creek to take photos, mom's busy observing and Dad, Rob & Frank were all riding..  she accepted this without a single hesitation (which surprised me! - - - our little girl is GROWING up!)

(She didn't get a clean this time - although she didn't put her feet down, she rode outside the tapes - but Rob was proud of her all the same....)

Jade had finished riding the trial at this point - she was just refusing to stop riding (not that we were asking her to) - so she kept riding the sections...  when she fell off this time she was so exhausted that she just lay on the ground...

Turkey Beach Trial - Day 1

Saturday 6th August

Another camping weekend trial.... always the good way to spend a weekend.... no communications - no internet... just dirt - fire & a freezing night in the caravan.... this weekend was slightly different - this time - Jade was off on her motorbike from the time we unloaded at about midday on Saturday - til we packed it  back into the van on Sunday arvo....   (except for sleeping and toilet runs - she was on the bike)....

Mom and Dad had checked out a junior pony express trail and said that Jade would probably enjoy that... so as soon as we got all our gear on - Jade and I went for a ride around it...  she came off a couple of times when she was going around corners that had been dug out by bikes and she got stuck in the rut and thrown off.. but not at any real speed - so she wasn't hurt or even upset....  it was great....

Then it started to rain... so we headed back to the caravans and decided to wait it out...  Jade wasn't overly impressed with this...  "c'mon Daddy... lets go!!!"  - - - - "But, but, but.... it's raining!"  "so????" ....   she wouldn't even get off her bike to do her crosswords while she waited....

Blake spent a fair amount of time on his bmx....  my guess is that he'll be just as bad when he gets his bike... we'll never see either of them!

Sunday 31st July

After coming back from Xander's party - I stayed at home with Blake to get him down for a sleep - and Rob headed back out to the Mudflats with Jade to let her have another ride.....   and now she's mastered the art of standing up while riding....  again, rode til the battery on the bike died....
